Photo 30 Jan 7 notes In honor of the All Star game:

This will be the first time since the West beat the East 6-5 in a shootout in 2003 that three Canucks will play in the all-star game. That year Markus Naslund, Todd Bertuzzi and Ed Jovanovski all dressed for the Western Conference, while coach Marc Crawford was behind the bench. That was the first all-star game ever decided by a shootout and Naslund, after picking up an assist in regulation, scored on Patrick Lalime to help lift the West to the win.

:’) Such a great year. AV, Hank, Dank, & Kes upheld the honor today. <3

Murph: “I know you probably don’t keep track of things but that was your 49th game winning goal, which ties you with Markus now for tops in Canucks franchise history. Perhaps a thought on that.”

Danny: “Yeah, I mean, we all know what Markus did, so… if I can tie with him, it’s a great honour.”

So humble and precious <333

I love the way Kesler’s head whips around so quickly and his incredulous look after Danny says fuck.

LOL. And then Danny’s just like “what?”

This is me right now after that shutout. First loss in 39 days doesn’t feel so good

Photo 8 Jan 8 notes Since Markus Naslund’s jersey retirement ceremony last month, the Canucks have gotten at least a point in each game, i.e they have not lost in regulation. The last game in which they suffered a regulation loss was the game before his ceremony. Clearly the presence of St. Markus had an inspirational effect on them. This stat can 100%-ly be attributed to his mystical powers. <33

The Canucks are currently sitting at 8 wins in a row for the 1st time since November 2002. Also, Alain Vigneault will be a coach at the NHL All Star game, much like Marc Crawford was in 2003.
The parallels to the WCE era are uncanny <3
— It’s hard to say if this is the best a Canucks team has ever played in the regular season. Surely you’ve said it before. “Wow, this is the best I’ve ever seen them play.” And it might’ve been at the time.
In November of 2002, Vancouver won 10 in a row. After beating Florida 5-2 to make it 10, Dan Cloutier said, “It’s hard to believe but I think we can go better. We haven’t played our best yet.”
Cloutier was right. A few months later, the Canucks went 14 games without a loss. After beating Atlanta 8-0 to make it 14, Markus Naslund said, “This is the best I’ve seen the team play throughout the season. We’re finding ways to get up for games and taking pride in being prepared.”

I’m so proud to have been a Canucks fan for all these years, and I’m glad to see my team rise to the top once again. Ladies and gentlemen, your Canucks are once again at their prime, cherish this moment.

Go Canucks Go.

Text 4 Jan 4 notes Tall order for Morrison to help shut down high-octane Canucks

Mo’s back in Vancouver playing for the wrong team~

You don’t have to tell the former Vancouver Canucks centre about taking time and space away from Henrik and Daniel Sedin to defuse the NHL’s highest-scoring team and second-ranked power play after 38 club outings. You don’t have to tell him about the Canucks owning the league’s best faceoff percentage, being on a 15-1-2 run and dominating the Northwest Division with a 9-1-0 record to vault atop overall standings.

After all, that’s what the Calgary Flames centre was hoping to be a part of this season. Morrison was invited to Canucks training camp on a tryout, but the unrestircted free-agent opted for a one-year, $725,000 US contract on Oct. 4 with the Flames, who had lost three centres to injury. Three days later, the Canucks signed Peter Schaefer to a one-year, two-way contract, but he was waved and chose to retire in November rather than report to the Manitoba Moose. Morrsion hasn’t scored in nine games and has just one goal in his last 22, but the frustrated 35-year-old Pitt Meadows native knew what would be happening back home. He knew the Canucks would fill the net.

“I’m not surprised,” Morrison said Tuesday. “I knew they were going to have a good season right from training camp. They’ve learned a lot of lessons over the past couple of years in the playoffs and what kind of team you have to be in order to win. And they’re doing that.

“They’re winning all kinds of ways and when you have good speciality teams, you win games. They have three lines that can score, and good D-men who who can skate and move the puck and obviously good goaltending. It’s going to be a huge test for us.

“And it’s always strange coming back — I’m not going to lie to you. I had a lot of good years there.”

Morrison was a member of the Canucks when they last topped the NHL in regular-season standings. That was Jan. 13, 2004 when they were 25-11-7-2 and never lost more than three straight en route to the division title. They’re now 25-8-5, haven’t lost more than four in a row and have the best winning percentage.

Oh Mo. </3 It’s nice to reflect on the best-team-in-the-league we had then in 2004, and the best-team-in-the-league we have now.
